The Coweta County African American Heritage Museum is not just a guardian of African American history and architecture; it's a portal to personal ancestral journeys. Central to the museum's mission is genealogical research, fulfilling the profound desire of many African Americans to trace back their lineage.

With an expansive collection of meticulously curated resources, from extensive Census records spanning 1850 to present, Coweta's Marriage Book of 1827-1972, and the unique 1945 School Census Records, the museum stands as an essential hub for genealogical exploration. It's more than just the records that make the museum special. The devoted team of genealogical specialists is its heartbeat, offering expert guidance to visitors navigating these vast archives.

Their structured approach, ranging from initial consultation to community engagement, aids visitors in piecing together their histories. Through cross-referencing, narrative construction, and community insights, the researchers construct comprehensive family narratives, bridging past and present.

Remarkably, nine out of ten visitors find tangible links to their ancestors, reweaving narratives lost over time. Beyond preservation, the museum embodies the spirit of reconnection, ensuring every individual's story, no matter how obscured, finds its rightful place in history and the hearts of descendants.
